LG Chem Ltd. is a chemical manufacturer. The Company's products include petrochemicals, plastic resins, and engineering plastics. LG Chem also produces industrial and electronic materials.

<li>In this insight, we discuss a pair trade between LG Chem Ltd (051910 KS) (common) and LG Chem (051915 KS) (preferred). </li>
<li>The price ratio (LG Chem common/preferred) is now at 2.16x, which is more than 2 STD (standard deviations). Our trading strategy involves revert to the mean. </li>
<li>One of the key reasons why LG Chem (preferred)'s share price has fared much worse YTD than LG Chem (common) is due to much larger selling by the foreign investors. </li>

CK Hutchison Holdings Limited holds all of the non-property businesses of the Cheung Kong Group and the Hutchison Group, including ports and related services, telecommunications, retail, infrastructure, energy, and movable assets leasing operations.

<li>As part of a US$22.8bn transaction, BlackRock, Global Infrastructure Partners and Terminal Investment, have <a href="https://www1.hkexnews.hk/listedco/listconews/sehk/2025/0304/2025030402128.pdf" target="_blank" rel="noopener">agreed to buy</a> two contentious Panama ports from Li Ka-shing's <a href="https://www.smartkarma.com/entities/ck-hutchison-holdings-ltd" target="_blank" data-smartkarma-citation="entities:132:1" rel="noopener">CK Hutchison (1 HK)</a> (CKH).</li>
<li>The transaction also includes an 80% stake in CKH's ports subsidiaries, which operate 43 ports comprising 199 berths in 23 countries.</li>
<li>CKH expects cash proceeds in excess of US$19bn. CKH's current market cap was - at the time of deal - also  ~US$19bn. </li>
</ul>


As part of a US$22.8bn transaction, BlackRock, Global Infrastructure Partners and Terminal Investment, have agreed to buy two contentious Panama ports from Li Ka-shing's CK Hutchison (1 HK) (CKH).
The transaction also includes an 80% stake in CKH's ports subsidiaries, which operate 43 ports comprising 199 berths in 23 countries.
CKH expects cash proceeds in excess of US$19bn. CKH's current market cap was - at the time of deal - also  ~US$19bn.

REA Group Limited provides online property listings, web development and internet related technology services to the real estate industry along with providing advertising services to Australian companies.  The Company also offers online real estate search services to the Australian public.

China Communications Construction Company Ltd. is a transportation infrastructure group.  The Company is involved in infrastructure construction, infrastructure design, dredging, and port machinery manufacturing.  China Communications has operations worldwide.

<li>Long <a href="https://www.smartkarma.com/entities/china-communications-construction-co-ltd" target="_blank" data-smartkarma-citation="entities:265:1" rel="noopener">China Communications Construction (1800 HK)</a>, short <a href="https://www.smartkarma.com/entities/china-railway-group-ltd-h" target="_blank" data-smartkarma-citation="entities:264:1" rel="noopener">China Railway Group Ltd H (390 HK)</a> is a good strategy to capitalise on the recent underperformance of CCCC.</li>
<li>CCCC has a stronger contract momentum than CRG - its FY24 new contracts were up 7.3%, but CRG was down 12.4%. CCCC is also better positioned for urban construction growth.</li>
<li>In terms of dividend yield, CCCC is higher at 6.8% for FY25, yet CRG is only 6.3%. CCCC's performance should pick up in the rest of 2025.</li>
</ul>


Long China Communications Construction (1800 HK), short China Railway Group Ltd H (390 HK) is a good strategy to capitalise on the recent underperformance of CCCC.
CCCC has a stronger contract momentum than CRG - its FY24 new contracts were up 7.3%, but CRG was down 12.4%. CCCC is also better positioned for urban construction growth.
In terms of dividend yield, CCCC is higher at 6.8% for FY25, yet CRG is only 6.3%. CCCC's performance should pick up in the rest of 2025.

Back on the 5th November, Get Nice Holdings (64 HK) (GNH) announced a scrip Offer, by way of a Scheme, for 72.99%-held Get Nice Financial Group Ltd (1469 HK) (GNF).
The (then) HK$1.116/share implied scrip price &amp; divvy compared to a book value of HK1.736/share. and net cash of ~HK$1.00/share. At the 22nd January EGM, GNH shareholders backed the Offer.
The Scheme Doc is now out, with a Court Meeting on the 7th March,  with new GNH shares trading on the 7th April. The IFA (Veda Capital) botched its peer analysis.
