Friday's volume was the largest in over two years, while the gap between the 50 and the 200- day moving average of the Total Market Value is the widest since the market peak of January 2018. While the last eight days have seen a<em> six-sigma</em> decline in the S&amp;P 500 with only the 1987 and 2008 crashes significantly worse, TOPIX has seen many more eight-day drops worse than the 12% decline since 18th February. Indeed, there have been seven in the last decade, including two with falls of more than 20%.<strong> This Insight will look at a variety of fifteen-year market indicators to determine if the current malaise offers an opportunity to increase market exposure or could augur the start of a prolonged bear market.  </strong></p>
