Jesus Rodriguez Aguilar

Jesús is an Insight Provider (Event-driven) on the Smartkarma network, where he looks across sectors at opportunities arising from securities mispricing (both credit and equity), share classes, bid announcements, prospective bids, and special situations. He has served as Economic and Business Advisor at the Spanish Congress in Madrid. Prior to that, he has worked in the City of London: as a Credit Analyst at Bloomberg; Event-driven associate at former boutique European Research; and doubled as Special Situations and Equity-linked VP (convertible bonds) at Merrill Lynch. Jesús has an MBA from the London Business School, a BA (Hons.) degree in Economics from the Complutense University in Madrid, and a BA (Hons.) in Law from U.N.E.D., also in Madrid.

There has been no obvious trend over the last two months regarding the discounts, although it has widened in some names. Some of the previous (May and June) recommendations have been bang on. Trading opportunities are less obvious, but some still exist.

<a href="https://www.smartkarma.com/entities/carlsberg-a-s" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Carlsberg A/S (CARLB DC)</a>: close trade long B/short A shares (B are trading at 4.4% discount from 12% in June).</li>

<a href="https://www.smartkarma.com/entities/bayerische-motoren-werke-ag" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Bayerische Motoren Werke AG (BMW GR)</a> : the discount has widened to 23% from 18% by mid-August, as a result of recent volatility. I would recommend setting up a trade long BMW prefs, short ords with a target of a 15% discount.</li>

The discount in Grifols B shares has averaged 28% since listing of the B shares in February 2016. I recommend setting up the trade long B shares traded on Nasdaq, short A shares traded in Madrid. The target is a 27% discount. Please note there is FX risk, which can be hedged.</li>

Carlsberg A/S (CARLB DC): close trade long B/short A shares (B are trading at 4.4% discount from 12% in June).
