The rally in bonds has met its targets and seems to have run its course. Now as we are at very low levels of yield again, it seems unlikely that there is much juice left in this recent trend. Instead of reversing though we believe there is a risk of continued low nominal and real yields which should provide opportunities elsewhere.

The picture unfolding on the Nikkei 225 since February generally warned of a mean reverting move down to the 200-day moving average. Now that target has been met, we see a decent setup emerging that argues for a rally not only to the February high but also beyond.

After the clean-out following the last FOMC we seem to be settling into a situation of lower long end bond yields, and a stable to, now, bearish looking USD.
The combination of lower long end yields and a lower USD in the short term provides a decent backdrop for precious metals to do well. They are all showing signs of life again…
