<strong>2Q21 GDP print (+11.8%) aligned with our nowcast (+11.5%):</strong> Every component of GDP was in the black, save for public spending (-4.9%). PCE expanded at a robust clip (+7.2%), as did private investments (+37.4%). With the capital region (accounting for a third of GDP) now under the most stringent set of mobility restrictions, we expect the strong rebound in 2Q21 to be followed by a much weaker 3Q21.</li>

<strong>Policy implications</strong>: The BSP has dropped hints of a RRR cut in the upcoming monetary policy meeting. Congress appears set to approve and push through a more modest stimulus package. The size of the package is in line with what economic managers have in mind.</li>
