Periscope Analytics focuses on event-driven trades across Asia Pacific and provides comprehensive, timely and systematic coverage of index changes to major Asia Pacific indices in a structured manner.

The analysis includes forecasted inclusions and exclusions to all major Asian indices that have significant amount of tracking assets, including estimates of passive buy/sell flow on the stocks. Most changes were expected.</li>
<li>There are a lot of stocks with over 1 day of ADV to trade. The round-trip trade in June is estimated to be US$5bn.</li>
<li>The adds have outperformed the deletes for both indices but the return profile of a long adds/ short deletes trade for the CSI500 Index is a lot smoother.</li>

There are 12 changes for the CSI 300 Index (SHSZ300 INDEX) and 50 changes for the CSI Smallcap 500 Index (SH000905 INDEX) in June. Most changes were expected.
There are a lot of stocks with over 1 day of ADV to trade. The round-trip trade in June is estimated to be US$5bn.
The adds have outperformed the deletes for both indices but the return profile of a long adds/ short deletes trade for the CSI500 Index is a lot smoother.

Exposure in Aluminium stocks has moved higher over the last 12-months.  Just over a fifth of the EM funds in our analysis now have exposure to the Aluminium industry group, up from 7.7% in June of last year.  However, at just 0.12% average weight, exposure levels are far from convincing.Ten stocks make up the Emerging Markets Aluminium Industry group, led by <a href="https://www.smartkarma.com/entities/china-hongqiao-group-ltd" target="_blank" data-smartkarma-citation="entities:1909:1" rel="noopener">China Hongqiao (1378 HK)</a> and <a href="https://www.smartkarma.com/entities/aluminum-corporation-of-china-limited" target="_blank" data-smartkarma-citation="entities:6884:1" rel="noopener">Aluminum Corporation Of China (2600 HK)</a>, held by 10.8% and 5.2% of managers respectively.The image of Aluminium from an ESG perspective doesn't appear to be a major issue and hasn't deterred the ESG focused strategies in our analysis from investing.  In fact, 26.3% of ESG funds have exposure to the Aluminium Industry compared to 19% of non-ESG funds.But we can't escape the fact that across all of the stocks in the Aluminium Industry group, not one has managed to attract an investment of above 2% in any of the 250 active GEM funds in our analysis.  At this stage, active EM managers are only 'dipping their toes in', rather than risking a high conviction allocation.

<li>The potential deletes have bounced off their lows as the market has recovered. But the potential passive selling could see them underperform over the next month.</li>

Huaibei Mining Holdings Co.,Ltd. operates coal businesses. The Company mines, processes, and distributes coal, cokes, coal chemical products, and other products. Huaibei Mining Holdings also produces methanol, crude benzene, ammonium sulfate, and other products.

Shandong Nanshan Aluminum Co., Ltd. designs, manufactures, and markets aluminum products and worsted woolen products. The Company's major aluminum offerings are electrolytic aluminum and section aluminum. Its woolen products include soybean fiber fabrics, silk fabrics, wool/flax fabrics and cashmere. Shandong also generates and supplies electricity.

Nanjing Iron & Steel Co., Ltd. produces a variety of iron and steel products. The Company's products include steel plates, steel belts, structure steel, concrete iron, steel billets, cast iron, and related by-products.

Jiangxi Ganfeng Lithium Co., Ltd. researches and produces lithium products and operates import, export and manufacturing businesses for its own products.  The Company's products include lithium metal, lithium aluminum hydride, lithium fluoride, lithium chloride, and other chemical products of lithium.

Hunan Valin Steel Co., Ltd. smelts and processes steel and nonferrous metals. The Company's products include steel billets, seamless steel tubes, aluminium wire rods, and other metal products. Hunan Valin also exports its products to United States, Korea, Thailand, and other countries.

BlueScope Steel Limited supplies steel products and solutions. The Company manufactures steel slabs, plates, hot and cold rolled coils, and coated and painted strip products for building and construction, automotive, whitegoods, and manufacturing applications. BlueScope Steel serves customers in Asia, Australia, New Zealand, and the United States.

Kobe Steel, Ltd. is a steelmaker, as well as a supplier of aluminum and copper products.  The products include steel plates and steel rods.  The Company also operates other businesses such as welding consumables, urban infrastructure, plant engineering, and industrial & construction machinery.  Kobe Steel has operating offices in the US, Europe, and Asia.

OZ Minerals Ltd. is an Australian based mining company with a focus on copper. The Company owns and operates the Prominent Hill copper-gold mine and the Carrapateena copper-gold project located in South Australia and has a number of equity interests in listed resource companies.

National Aluminium Co. Ltd. is an integrated aluminum manufacturer. The Company mines for bauxite, refines bauxite into aluminum and manufactures and sells aluminum and aluminum products. National Aluminium Company's products include bauxite, aluminum hydrate, calcined aluminum, aluminum ingots and aluminum wire rods, as well as electricity which is generated for captive consumption.
