<p>A Singapore based activist hedge fund called Metrica Partners wrote a letter to the BOD of Sk Chemicals Co Ltd/New (285130 KS) which has become publicly available. The key highlights of the letter is that SK Chemicals should take partial profits on its stake in SK Bioscience (302440 KS) and pay higher dividends. Today, there was a big divergence in the share prices of SK Chemicals (up 8.8%) and SK Bioscience (down 6.7%). </p><p>Basically, the hedge fund believes that the shares of SK Chemicals are excessively undervalued, given its big stake (68.4%) in SK Bioscience. Metrica Partners currently has less than 5% stake in SK Chemicals. </p><div class="content-highlight">
<div>We believe that a higher probability scenario is for SK Chemicals to sell down about 3-5% stake in SK Bioscience which could be announced in the next 3-6 months. SK Bioscience currently has a market cap of 21.95 trillion won (287,000 won), If we take a 10% discount to this amount, it would be 19.76 trillion won and a 5% stake sale would involve 1 trillion won. </div>

<div>In other words, we would put a higher probability of SK Chemicals selling about 5% of its stake in SK Bioscience which could raise about 1 trillion won for the company. While this would be laudable, it would be much smaller than the measures proposed by Metrica. Of the 1 trillion won, we think that the BOD of SK Chemicals could allocate about 30-40% of this amount for special dividends.</div>
</div><div>All in all, a hedge fund going activist on SK Chemicals is likely to further rally the share price and we believe that the price gap between SK Chemicals and SK Bioscience is likely to narrow further in the weeks ahead. </div>

<div class="content-highlight"><p>Hyundai Heavy Industries (HHI) announced its book building results and the IPO has been determined at 60,000 won, which was at the high end of the IPO price range. The demand ratio among the institutional investors was very strong at 1,836 to 1. There were 1,633 institutional investors that participated in the IPO survey of which 1,285 were domestic investors and 348 were overseas investors. </p></div><table class="table table-striped">

Despite surging new orders in 1H 2021, it remains to be seen if this is sustainable. There also remain a lot of question marks about the company's profitability as well as higher steel raw material costs, higher interest rates, and the M&amp;A of Daewoo Shipbuilding which may be blocked by regulators in EU/Japan.</p><p>Even the book building results imply a mixed bag. The high ratios of lock up period and high demand ratio are certainly very positive. Also, it has a low free float and solid employees subscription for the IPO shares. However, why did the institutional investors not indicate higher prices for the IPO (above 60,000 won)?</p>

</table><hr><h2>Regarding Krafton's inclusion:</h2><p>Krafton was listed after the review cutoff date (July 31). Nonetheless, KRX decided to include it in this rebalancing. Then, did KRX break its own rule? Well, it did not.</p><p><strong>Here is my explanation which I posted previously, concerning this issue.</strong></p><div class="content-highlight">
<p>First of all, this BBIG index does not have a Fast Entry clause. So, KRX was internally debating whether to apply the review cutoff date to newly listed stocks with large market caps. (This was what I heard from KRX directly.) Since this index has few constituents, if newly listed stocks with large market caps are excluded from the index for nearly six months, the resulting disparity between the index and the actual sector may become too large, and KRX is also concerned about this.</p>
<p>Therefore, KRX said that it would decide on Fast Entry of those stocks with large market caps, such as Krafton, Kakao Pay, and LG Energy Solution, at the time of regular rebalancing in consultation with the ETF operators (Mirae Asset). In the end, it turned out that the outcome of the KRX &amp; Mirae Asset discussion on the Fast Entry of Krafton was Go, which wasn't outside the scope of the KRX Index methodology at all.</p>

Regarding Krafton's inclusion:Krafton was listed after the review cutoff date (July 31). Nonetheless, KRX decided to include it in this rebalancing. Then, did KRX break its own rule? Well, it did not.Here is my explanation which I posted previously, concerning this issue.
First of all, this BBIG index does not have a Fast Entry clause. So, KRX was internally debating whether to apply the review cutoff date to newly listed stocks with large market caps. (This was what I heard from KRX directly.) Since this index has few constituents, if newly listed stocks with large market caps are excluded from the index for nearly six months, the resulting disparity between the index and the actual sector may become too large, and KRX is also concerned about this.
Therefore, KRX said that it would decide on Fast Entry of those stocks with large market caps, such as Krafton, Kakao Pay, and LG Energy Solution, at the time of regular rebalancing in consultation with the ETF operators (Mirae Asset). In the end, it turned out that the outcome of the KRX &amp; Mirae Asset discussion on the Fast Entry of Krafton was Go, which wasn't outside the scope of the KRX Index methodology at all.

SillaJen, Inc. provides medical research and development services. The Company researches and develops treatment of cancer based on genetic recombination virus. SillaJen conducts its business in South Korea and the United States.

Eubiologics Co. Ltd. researches and develops biopharmaceuticals. The Company offers bacterial vaccines for new epidemics and antibiotic resistance. Eubiologics operates in South Korea.

Genexine Co., Ltd. is bio technology company. The Company specialize in the development of therapeutic vaccines and next generation antibody fusion protein medications.

Pharmicell Co.,Ltd. is a Biotechnology company.  The Company's business area inlcudes stem cell therapeutics, Stem cell banking, Bio-based business and Cosmetics.

TG Therapeutics, Inc. is a clinical-stage biopharmaceutical company focused on the acquisition, development and commercialization of innovative pharmaceutical products for the treatment of cancer and other underserved therapeutic needs. Currently, the company is developing two therapies targeting hematological malignancies, specifically, relapsed and refractory non-Hodgkins lymphoma.

Arrowhead Pharmaceuticals, Inc. operates as a biotechnology company. The Company develops medicines that treat intractable diseases by silencing the genes. Arrowhead Pharmaceuticals offers its services in the United States.
