Amplifying Global FX Capital

Amplifying Global FX Capital was founded in 2015 and is fully owned by Greg Gibbs. It is a registered company both in Australia and Colorado, USA and is a licensed in Australia to provide financial services.

We are producing a regular trading view orientated macroeconomic analysis of topical themes in global financial markets, with a particular focus on foreign exchange. We invite you to view an “executive summary” of these reports in “AmpGFX Reports” under our “Research” menu.

These reports are drawn from the analysis of Greg Gibbs and inform the capital management he undertakes on behalf of the company. The trading performance is posted periodically on our website. We aim to build our company into both a research and capital management business. We are currently in the planning phase for managing capital for wholesale customers.

Greg Gibbs has spent his working life of more than 26 years in financial markets, beginning in 1989 at the Reserve Bank of Australia, after completing a Bachelor of Economics Degree (Honours) at the Australian National University. He has been a CFA Charterholder since 2005. He has worked in Sydney, Singapore, New York and London for major global banks and presented on foreign exchange markets to major financial institutions and companies around the world, and maintained a high profile in the financial media.

Before Amplifying Global FX Capital, Greg was the Head of Asia Pacific Market Strategy at the Royal Bank of Scotland based Singapore. He now resides in Breckenridge Colorado.

FX & Rates

There is no clear way to assess the probability of the outcome of this meeting, so uncertainty may keep asset markets in check as it approaches.  It will be regarded as hugely important since the Chinese economy is already slowing down, led by weaker export markets, and this has spilled over to other Asian exporters and potentially to global growth.  The US administration has plans to further expand its tariffs if no progress is made on a deal before year-end.We rate the potential outcomes: No Meaningful Progress, Hopes Raised, and an Imminent Deal.  And discuss the outcomes for the dollar and global markets.

Technical Analysis

Our EM FX cascade call is seeing increased USD bull momentum in Asia as weaker currencies buckle and bleed into the SGD and KRW.  Mounting equity selling pressure in Asia and we have yet to break TRY and RUB triangle patterns for a bigger USD push and FX buckle.Price action in China/Hong Kong implies we reach for new lows into our base case cycle trough due in September. Impulsive bear turns noted in Korea, Singapore and Indonesia. India break of trend support.EEM - Reaching for that 40-41 target zone which must be linked with a chart peak in EM FX while holding NDX 7,500 for any sign of a low. If we break NDX 7,500 then we press lower across the board and see DM's close the margin with EM's. Watch NDX 7,500, representing a key pivot level for tech globally.This webcast covers important break points and synergy as we move into a more volatile September.

Further Signs of Contagion Seeping into Asia
