Japan’s popularity as a tourist destination shows no signs of abating as the number of tourists that reached its shores in the Jan-July 2018 period increased 13.9% YoY to 18.7m. While tourist numbers hit a record 2.3m for the month of July, the growth rate fell below double digits largely due to the floods that ravaged Western Japan. In this report, we will look at some of the domestic companies that have been able to reap the benefits of this surge in visitors, in terms of both revenue growth and brand awareness.

Peter is a qualified Chartered Accountant and self-taught market technician with over 30 years experience.  At MGIS, Peter managed money in European, Australasian and Far East markets for US clients, such as American Airlines and American Petrofina.  He achieved first quartile perfomance on their behalf by blending fundamental and technical analysis in his investment decision-making.  

After an initial focus on the EAFE markets (Europe, Australasia and Far East), the company has recently expanded its coverage to include the Americas, thanks to the recently-completed two-year Knowledge Transfer Partnership with the University of Plymouth.  The resulting software – the Technical Overlay Program (TOP) – allows fund managers to access an immediate Technical view on any market, sector, stock, bond yield, currency or commodity within their selected universe.

The price broke out of a 1,000-point trading range below 3,400 in November, introducing a minimum target in the 4,400 area (still over 14% higher).  The shorter momentum indicators and the volume accumulator have confirmed the move. The relative also completed a 15-month Reverse Head-and-Shoulders base below PR1.95 in November, and is now pulling back in a textbook test of the break-out level, which should act as support.  Its minimum target is PR2.20 (nearly 8% higher).  PR1.82 is the stop on…

Custom Products was started 14 years ago at Lehman Brothers by current co-founder Patrick Hansen, CFA. After 3 years at Lehman, Patrick moved the team to Macquarie Securities where Simon Rigney (co-founder) joined. 3 years ago we took Custom Products independent. 

Our core strength can be summed up three words. 1- Customization - we have very little off the shelf products and most work is done on a one on one bespoke basis. 2- Speed - We pride ourselves in our ability to get requests back to the client very quickly. 3- Confidentiality - We do not redistribute. It has been a while since we updated the "Hated by the Street" screen. So we thought it would be good to see which names made the list. Usually we only screen for names where the % of BUY recommendations to Total is less than 20%. However, 126 names made that list.
