<li>I screened those local buybacks in Korea with a market cap of +₩300B. I further selected those whose buyback volume exceeds 0.5% of SO and buyback completion is below 50%.</li>
<li>I then narrowed them down to those whose buybacks will likely be completed within 30 trading days with a daily buyback x ADTV of 0.15x or higher.</li>
<li>As a result, I obtained nine names: Hwasung Industrial, SK Chemicals, Meritz Securities, Huons Global, Daishin Securities, E-Mart, Meritz Financial Group, Meritz Fire, &amp; Hwaseung Industries
</li>

KOSPI/KOSDAQ Buybacks in Progress: Those with High Daily Flow Screened

I added 3 more single subsidiary holding companies: Doosan Corp, Hwaseung Industries, and Hanil Holdings. I now track a total of 18 local holding companies for a single subsidiary stub trade.Out of these 18 names, 6 holding companies are currently below -0.5σ on a 20-day moving average. Hanil Holdings, one of the three newbies, is in the harshest diversion at -1.44σ relative to its subsidiary, Hanil Cement. Younghone Holdings and Green Cross Holdings follow at -0.99σ and -0.86σ, respectively.

Starting with this insight, I made some changes in my calculation of NAV. I estimated each holding company's operating operation based on their latest de-consolidated operating profit. It is mostly brand royalty and office rental income. I used operating profit to exclude dividend income.So, here is the revised NAV discount of each holding company in my monitoring list. Seah Holdings and Halla Holdings have the highest discount to the NAV at 76.65% and 73.29%, respectively. In contrast, Hanjin Kal continues to trade at a premium (11.75%) to the NAV. Amorepacific Group and Hankook &amp; Co are also trading at a relatively low discount to the NAV.

The Korea Exchange announced its KOSDAQ150 and KRX300 indices rebalances today. There were 17 new additions and 17 deletions for KOSDAQ150. Most of the stocks that were expected to be included in KOSDAQ 150 were officially included in the rebalance. However there were a few surprises. For example <a href="https://www.smartkarma.com/entities/nanos-co-ltd" target="_blank" data-smartkarma-citation="entities:16796:1" rel="noopener">Nanos Co Ltd (151910 KS),</a>which was one of the stocks that was expected to be included in KOSDAQ150, did not get included in this indext this time. On the other hand, the following stocks including <a href="https://www.smartkarma.com/entities/sang-a-frontec-co-ltd" target="_blank" data-smartkarma-citation="entities:20692:1" rel="noopener">Sang A Frontec (089980 KS)</a>, Novarex (194700 KS(, CIS (222080 KS), MedPacto (215980 KS), <a href="https://www.smartkarma.com/entities/koreacenter-com-co-ltd" target="_blank" data-smartkarma-citation="entities:28329:1" rel="noopener">Koreacenter.com Co Ltd (290510 KS)</a>, and Soulbrain (357780 KS) which were not on the top of the lists of getting selected into the KOSDAQ150 index by the locals, were formally selected be part of the new KOSDAQ150 inclusions.  The Korea Exchange also made changes to the KRX300 index. Although the KRX300 index is not currently as important as KOSPI200 and KOSDAQ150 indices, it is increasingly gaining in importance among the local institutional investors. The KRX300 had 33 new additions and 35 deletions.
