<ul>
<li>The June 2024 index review results for China's CSI 300 and CSI 500 indices were announced after market close on Friday 31st May 2024.</li>
<li>There will be 12 changes in CSI 300 and 50 changes in CSI 500 which could collectively cause one-way index flows of ~US$3.7bn during the June 2024 index rebal event.</li>
<li>Compared to Quiddity's final expectations, 114 out of the 124 index changes (both ways) were correct translating to a hit rate of 92%. </li>

The June 2024 index review results for China's CSI 300 and CSI 500 indices were announced after market close on Friday 31st May 2024.
There will be 12 changes in CSI 300 and 50 changes in CSI 500 which could collectively cause one-way index flows of ~US$3.7bn during the June 2024 index rebal event.
Compared to Quiddity's final expectations, 114 out of the 124 index changes (both ways) were correct translating to a hit rate of 92%.

CSI 300 represents the 300 largest stocks by market capitalization and liquidity from the entire universe of Shanghai and Shenzhen Stock Exchanges. CSI 500 represents the next largest 500 names.
In this insight, we take a look at the potential ADDs/DELs for the CSI 300 and CSI 500 rebalance in June 2024.
There are some changes to the list of expected ADDs/DELs since I published my last insight on this roughly a month ago.

<li>The January rebalance of the IDX30 and LQ45 indices will be implemented at the close of trading on 31 January.</li>
<li>There have been huge inflows into the <a href="https://www.smartkarma.com/entities/shanghai-shenzhen-csi-300-inde" target="_blank" data-smartkarma-citation="entities:22906:1" rel="noopener">CSI 300 Index</a> ETFs for another week. This will increase the impact on the index changes at the next rebalance.</li>

The review period for the NIFTY family of indices, Nikkei 225, STAR50, the KRX New Deal Index and a global index ends on 31 January.
The January rebalance of the IDX30 and LQ45 indices will be implemented at the close of trading on 31 January.
There have been huge inflows into the CSI 300 Index ETFs for another week. This will increase the impact on the index changes at the next rebalance.

<li>Geopolitical risks have led to foreign companies planning to withdraw from China.It’s also difficult to allow foreign companies to control China’s core strategic assets.So, Grifols and RAAS’ “breakup” is inevitable.</li>
<li>This acquisition is an important milestone in the development of Haier’s big health industry. RAAS’s valuation also has room to rise further after being acquire by Haier due to synergies.</li>
<li>In the case of slowing growth in the home appliance market, this is a wise move for Haier.However, potential goodwill impairment in GDS is a risk for Haier/RAAS and investors.</li>

<li>With three-quarters of the review period nearly complete, we forecast 50 changes (the maximum permitted) for the <a href="https://www.smartkarma.com/entities/csi-smallcap-500-index-shang" target="_blank" data-smartkarma-citation="entities:35347:1" rel="noopener">CSI 500 Index</a> at the close on 14 June.</li>
<li>There is a big sector skew in the potential changes. We estimate a one-way turnover of 9.1% at the June rebalance resulting in a one-way trade of CNY 5.34bn.</li>
<li>The potential adds and deletes and the <a href="https://www.smartkarma.com/entities/csi-smallcap-500-index-shang" target="_blank" data-smartkarma-citation="entities:35347:1" rel="noopener">CSI 500 Index</a> have performed in line since August and the current setup appears attractive.</li>
