I have 20+yrs experience in Asia doing alternative strategies (i.e. non-delta1 non long-only) in fixed income, equity derivatives, and activist/catalyst/event-driven and long-short equity strategies with most of that time spent managing money. 

4 years in fixed income macro, 8 years running internal hedge fund and 4yrs investment banking at Citi in Japan, 3 years running an Asia multi-strat portfolio at a hedge fund, 4+yrs as an independent special situations analyst.

<li>After a few successive rounds of Management and Board Proposals were shot down, last March <a href="https://www.smartkarma.com/entities/toshiba-corp" target="_blank" data-smartkarma-citation="entities:637:1" rel="noopener">Toshiba Corp (6502 JP)</a> embarked on a process to generate a privatisation proposal.</li>
<li>The result has ended up with one, maybe two privatisation proposals in the offing. The "leading" candidate's proposal will not fly as proposed. The other is MIA for the moment.</li>
<li>That leaves a complicated situation. Activists+active holders are stuck with Toshiba and vice versa. They want change, and out, and financiers do too. Change happens. The question is how.</li>
