Our process begins by organizing the universe of actively traded stocks into discrete sectors, then into industry groups. We then apply our technical and quantitative tools to identify developing price trends. Once attractive trends are identified within a selected sector or group, we screen for individual stocks which we believe offer the best risk/reward profile. We provide a historical perspective that often reveals, through our long-term charts, how price patterns often repeat themselves over time.

Defensives Worthy of a Tactical Overweight; Buys in Global Health Care, Gold Miners, and Utilities

iShares MSCI ACWI ETF / Technical Analysis

<li>On March 2 we discussed how the pullback in global equities was in full swing as Europe/UK indexes displayed 4.5-month uptrend breaks, joining the pullback in the MSCI ACWI.</li>
<li>At the time, we expected this pullback in the MSCI ACWI (ACWI-US) to move down to $86-87 at minimum, and potentially $84 (December 2022 low) or $75-77 (the 2022 lows).</li>
<li>ACWI-US broke below $86 and is approaching $84. $84 will be an important support level to monitor, but if it breaks, the $75-77 level is still firmly in the cards.</li>

<p>Wheaton Precious Metals (WPM) released its Q422/FY22 financial results in the context of known production and sales volumes. As a result, financial results were very close to our prior expectations for both Q422 and FY22. The main (positive) variances were in depletion (US$3.3m) and ‘other’ income (US$1.9m), to result in net earnings that were US$5.0m better than our prior forecasts for both periods (equating to a positive percentage variance of 5.1% for the quarter and 1.0% for the full year).</p>

Wheaton Precious Metals (WPM) released its Q422/FY22 financial results in the context of known production and sales volumes. <p>On 21 February 2023, Wheaton Precious Metals (WPM) announced that it had produced and sold 286,985oz and 293,234oz gold, respectively, and 23,979koz and 21,570koz silver, respectively in FY22. Subject to any historical restatements in its FY22 financial results next week (possible but unlikely and very unlikely to be material), this implies that it produced and sold 66,025oz and 68,996oz gold and 5,353koz and 4,935koz silver, respectively, in Q4. In the case of gold, in particular, this was below our prior forecast (see Exhibit 1), but is consistent with the 14.7% quarter-on-quarter decline in copper production at Salobo announced by Vale on 31 January on account of ‘major maintenance’. This note updates our forecasts for Q422 and FY22 in the light of WPM’s actual production and sales numbers and for FY23 in the light of maiden, detailed guidance.</p>
