We cover all listing across the Asia Pacific along with follow-up placements. As of Dec 2020, our team had covered 539 IPOs with a hit rate of 73.5% and 685 placements with a hit rate of 66.8%.

We combine fundamental bottom-up views with our proprietary quantitative framework to provide a holistic coverage across new listings and placements. Our coverage includes pre-IPO notes before the deal is launched, follow-up analysis once the deal is live and post-listing trading analysis as well.

2020 marked our second full year of operations as an Independent Research Company, and our fifth year covering Equity Capital Markets (ECM). While the year started off on a precarious note for ECM, it ended with very strong momentum. Even as IPOs have hogged the limelight in 2020, we actually ended up covering more than twice the number of placements as IPOs. We ended 2020 with an accuracy rate of 72.7% across 88 IPOs that we covered and 70.1% across 174 placements. While our placements hit rate improved, our IPO hit rate took a dip from 2019.For those not familiar with our coverage, we aim to cover all IPOs and placements with a minimum deal size of US$100m across Asia-Pacific (ex-Korea), including China ADRs.

On December 28th 2020, the National Healthcare Security Administration (NHSA) announced the results of 2020 medical insurance negotiations. The new medical insurance catalogue will be officially implemented on March 1st, 2021. It totally contains 2,800 types of drugs, including 1,426 types of western medicine and 1,374 types of proprietary Chinese medicine. A total of 162 drugs were negotiated this time, 119 of which successfully won the bidding, with a success rate of 73.46% and an average price reduction of 50.64%. Hang Seng Indexes Company (HSIL) reviews the constituents of the Hang Seng Composite Index (HSCI) on a half yearly basis in March and September with data cut-off dates as of the end of December and June. The review announcement for the March 2021 review should be made on 12 February and will be effective after the close of trading on 5 March.Although there are almost no assets indexed to the HSCI, the index forms the basis of stocks that are eligible for Southbound Stock Connect. Stocks that are included in the HSCI and subsequently included in the Stock Connect program get inflows from mainland investors.Secondary Listings and Biotech stocks listed under Chapter 18A of the Listing Rules are not eligible for inclusion in the Stock Connect program.There are a lot of stocks that will join the HSCI and subsequently included as a part of the Southbound Stock Connect program - these stocks will see buying from mainland investors and could outperform their peers and the market.There are stocks that will be deleted from the HSCI and consequently deleted from the Southbound Stock Connect buy list.
