Our process begins by organizing the universe of actively traded stocks into discrete sectors, then into industry groups. We then apply our technical and quantitative tools to identify developing price trends. Once attractive trends are identified within a selected sector or group, we screen for individual stocks which we believe offer the best risk/reward profile. We provide a historical perspective that often reveals, through our long-term charts, how price patterns often repeat themselves over time.

<ul>
<li>Despite some more mixed signals, a majority of market dynamics still suggests a risk-on environment. Our bullish outlook since early November 2023 remains intact with SPX and QQQ uptrends intact.</li>
<li>Near-Term we continue to expect to see support at the 20-day MA and 21-day EMA on the SPX (currently 5325-5330) and QQQ (currently $460-462).</li>
<li>Longer-Term, we're bullish as long as the SPX is above 5191 and QQQ is above $449. We'd need to see breakdowns below these levels in order to shift to neutral.</li>

Near-Term we continue to expect to see support at the 20-day MA and 21-day EMA on the SPX (currently 5325-5330) and QQQ (currently $460-462).

Bullish Outlook Intact; Downgrading Industrials and Transportation to Underweight

<ul>
<li>We've discussed for months that we'll need to see SPX and NDX (QQQ) close below their 20-day MAs/21-dayEMAs for more than 2-3 consecutive days in order to get more cautious.</li>
<li>Today (Tuesday) marks 3 consecutive days as the DXY climbs to test major $106 resistance, and amid 10- and 30-year Treasury yields breaking above long-term resistances. Caution is warranted.</li>
<li>Still, in order for there to be a meaningful pullback, important 2-month supports <em>that are currently being tested</em> would need to break, including 4983-5050 on SPX and $425-$433 on QQQ.</li>
</ul>

<ul><li>So far in 2023, mega-cap growth names such as Meta, Nvidia, Microsoft, and Netflix have continued to provide market leadership resulting in a 41% YTD gain in the QQQ ETF.</li><li>However, last week saw notable rotation away from technology (XLK) to the healthcare, energy, and financial sectors.</li><li>This came off the backs of notable technology heavyweights Tesla and Netflix earnings reports and investors selling off these names after their earnings prints this week.</li></ul>

So far in 2023, mega-cap growth names such as Meta, Nvidia, Microsoft, and Netflix have continued to provide market leadership resulting in a 41% YTD gain in the QQQ ETF.However, last week saw notable rotation away from technology (XLK) to the healthcare, energy, and financial sectors.This came off the backs of notable technology heavyweights Tesla and Netflix earnings reports and investors selling off these names after their earnings prints this week.

<ul><li>One of the lasting legacies of the COVID-19 pandemic was the acceleration of secular trends which were already in place prior to the start pandemic such as e-commerce, flexible working arrangements, streaming/entertainment at home, digital transformation, MRNA biotechnology, among others.</li><li>Many of these trends in place prior to the pandemic were turbocharged by a quick pivot and responses to adjust to the “new normal” disruption of the dealing with COVID-19 waves, lockdowns, and companies muddling through how to adapt their business model.</li><li>The aftermath of the combination of a bazooka fiscal and monetary stimulus has resulted in the Federal Reserve embarking on the most aggressive interest rate hiking campaign in decades in attempts to arrest and reverse inflation.</li></ul>

<li>This is where we see if prior breakout levels/important moving averages hold and market indexes make a higher low, or if this was nothing more than a bear market rally.</li>
<li>Barring a Fed pivot, and with Treasury yields and the DXY inflecting higher (and potentially commodities, too), it increases the odds for a deeper pullback in the broad market indexes.</li>
</ul>
