Korea’s Dem Leader: PBR Under 0.3x Should Be Hostile M&A Targets – Names That Could Feel the Heat

<li>This December’s KOSPI 200 shuffle will highlight stocks likely to see strong passive flows from changes in float rates.</li>
<li>Ecopro Materials sees BRV offloading shares, weakening its major shareholder status. Korea Zinc might mirror the Hankook &amp; Company scenario, bundling both families' stakes and treasury for non-float rate calculations.</li>
<li>The passive impacts may be small compared to constituent changes, but less dilution from proactive positioning means the price impact could be more noticeable as the effective date approaches.</li>

<li>Hanwha Energy, which is 100% owned by the Hanwha Group owner family members, has started the process of going public. Hanwha Energy could complete its IPO in 2025/2026. </li>
<li>One of the scenarios involving Hanwa Energy is that once it completes its IPO, it could merge with Hanwha Corporation (000880 KS). </li>
<li>Hanwha Energy generated revenue of 4.7 trillion won (up 20% YoY) and operating profit of 215 billion won (up 306.5% YoY). </li>

Hanwha Energy, which is 100% owned by the Hanwha Group owner family members, has started the process of going public. Hanwha Energy could complete its IPO in 2025/2026. 
One of the scenarios involving Hanwa Energy is that once it completes its IPO, it could merge with Hanwha Corporation (000880 KS).

<li>We believe that the Hanwha Group is likely to grab more shares in Hanwha Corp through an additional tender offer sometime in the next 6-12 months. </li>

After the market close on 24 July, Hanwha Corporation (000880 KS) announced that Hanwha Energy secured an additional 5.2% stake in Hanwha Corp through a tender offer.
A total of 3.9 million shares have been applied for the tender offer as of 24 July (65% of targeted amount).
