Our process begins by organizing the universe of actively traded stocks into discrete sectors, then into industry groups. We then apply our technical and quantitative tools to identify developing price trends. Once attractive trends are identified within a selected sector or group, we screen for individual stocks which we believe offer the best risk/reward profile. We provide a historical perspective that often reveals, through our long-term charts, how price patterns often repeat themselves over time.

Technical Analysis

As the broad market takes a breather, the weight of the evidence continues to support our belief that we are in the early stages of a broad-based advance. As long as there are no significant negative market developments, a buy-the-dip mentality is warranted. In today’s report we highlight attractive Groups and stocks within Consumer Discretionary, Health Care, and Transportation: Hotels &amp; Resorts, Large/Mid-Cap, Hospitals, and Vehicle Rentals/Leasing.

Marriott International / Technical Analysis

We first began highlighting Group CD-20 Hotels &amp; Resorts, Large/Mid-Cap in our 2/20/19 Compass, noting that the Group displayed bottoming price and RS and that it was a timely opportunity to add exposure. The Group has only improved since and, with this sustained price and RS improvement, we have been waiting for an attractive pullback opportunity in order to take advantage of what we believe is just the beginning of a much larger upside move. We believe that attractive pullback opportunity is now. In today’s report we highlight four of our favorite setups within the Group -- add exposure. Stocks highlighted include: Marriott International (MAR), Hilton Worldwide (HLT), Wyndham Hotels &amp; Resorts (WH), and Choice Hotels (CHH).

We draw several similarities in today’s report, and we continue to believe upside is likely to be muted from here barring additional positive developments.
