Periscope Analytics focuses on event-driven trades across Asia Pacific and provides comprehensive, timely and systematic coverage of index changes to major Asia Pacific indices in a structured manner.

The analysis includes forecasted inclusions and exclusions to all major Asian indices that have significant amount of tracking assets, including estimates of passive buy/sell flow on the stocks. The service also provides commentary and impact of market consultations, ground rule changes, and other events (IPOs, spin-offs, M&A) that could lead to index changes and passive flow.

Periscope Analytics works with multi-strategy hedge funds, proprietary trading firms, stat arb trading groups and long-only investors that invest and trade in the Asia Pacific region with the data being used to trade index rebalances, avoid pre-positioning and passive flow, and to time entry into and exit from stocks.

<li>Estimated one-way turnover is 17.7% resulting in a one-way trade of INR 47.2bn (US$566m). 8 stocks will have over 1x ADV to trade from passive trackers.</li>
<li>There are a bunch of stocks that are potential migrations between Mid Cap and Large Cap segments in the AMFI Classification system and there will be flows from active managers.</li>

With a substantial part of the review period complete, there could potentially be 7 changes for the NSE Nifty Next 50 Index (NIFTYJR INDEX) in September.
Estimated one-way turnover is 17.7% resulting in a one-way trade of INR 47.2bn (US$566m). 8 stocks will have over 1x ADV to trade from passive trackers.
There are a bunch of stocks that are potential migrations between Mid Cap and Large Cap segments in the AMFI Classification system and there will be flows from active managers.


NIFTY NEXT50 Index Rebalance Preview: Active Meets Passive

<ul>
<li>With the review period nearing completion, there could be 14/15 changes for the NIFTY Midcap 150 Index at the September rebalance.</li>
<li>Estimated one-way turnover is 8.2% resulting in a one-way trade of INR 6.6bn (US$79m). With US$38bn tracking the index actively, the impact on the stocks will be much larger.</li>
<li>Performance of a long adds/short deletes trade was very good in March, and we could see a repeat over the next couple of months.</li>

<li>There are 18 changes for the Nifty200 Momentum 30 Index that will be implemented at the close on 28 December. We had forecast all the index changes.</li>
<li>Estimated one-way turnover is 57.7% resulting in a one-way trade of INR 21.75bn (US$261m). 8 stocks have over 1x ADV to trade; 21 stocks have atleast 0.5x ADV to trade.</li>
<li>The adds have continued to outperform the deletes and the index and there could be further outperformance heading into year-end and buying from passive trackers.</li>

There are 18 changes for the Nifty200 Momentum 30 Index that will be implemented at the close on 28 December. We had forecast all the index changes.
Estimated one-way turnover is 57.7% resulting in a one-way trade of INR 21.75bn (US$261m). 8 stocks have over 1x ADV to trade; 21 stocks have atleast 0.5x ADV to trade.
The adds have continued to outperform the deletes and the index and there could be further outperformance heading into year-end and buying from passive trackers.

CG Power and Industrial Solutions Limited manufactures, distributes, installs and services electrical and allied equipment. The Company offers transformers, reactors, switchgear control equipment and accessories, industrial motors, pumps, and communication systems. CG Power and Industrial Solutions serves customers globally. 

Havells India Limited manufactures electrical products. The Company's products include building circuit protection equipment, industrial switchgears, energy meters, cables & wires, modular switches, fans and lighting products.

Alstom T&D India Limited manufactures a range of power transmission and distribution equipment. The Company builds high- and medium-voltage substations and develop technologies to manage power grids worldwide.

KEI Industries Limited manufactures cables and stainless steel wires for the building and construction, defense, telecommunications, and other industries.

ABB India Limited undertakes engineering and construction projects and manufactures heavy engineering and industrial equipment. The Company undertakes projects in the field of energy production, power transmission, transportation, process automation and pollution control. ABB India's products include pollution control equipment, switch gears and high current rectifiers.

Amara Raja Batteries Limited specializes in the manufacture of industrial and automotive batteries. The Company manufactures industrial batteries primarily for the telecom and UPS sectors. Amara Raja manufactures automotive batteries for the original equipment manufacturers and the aftermarket.

Finolex Cables Ltd. manufactures a wide range of telecommunication and electrical cables. HBL Power Systems Ltd. manufactures power systems consisting of batteries and related power electronic products.  The Company makes nickel cadmium pocket plate batteries and thyristor control power convertors.  HBL's products are used in defense, railways, petrochemical, steel, power generation and telecommunication industries.

Shanghai Electric Group Company Limited manufactures power generation equipment. The Company produces and sells thermal generator set, nuclear power units, wind power equipment, power transmission and distribution equipment, and other products. Shanghai Electric Group also manufactures environmental protection equipment.
