In this month’s "In-Focus" section, we discuss variable interest entities (VIEs) in China, including recent developments in China and the US that may complicate the future use of VIEs. Asia HY Monthly - Chinese Variable Interest Entities - Lucror Analytics

Road King's H1/21 results were broadly stable and in line with expectations. While revenue declined during the period, we expect revenue recognition to pick up in the coming quarters, given the strong contracted sales trends. The gross margin contracted slightly, but remained reasonably healthy at 26%. Positively, cash distributions from the company's toll-road JVs have recovered to pre-pandemic levels, covering c. 30% of interest expense. That said, Road King has a small land bank compared to peers, and we believe this will constrain deleveraging.
