We initiate coverage on Reliance Industries (RIL) with a “Hold” recommendation on the RILIN notes, which seem fairly valued at the moment. We view RIL as "Low Risk" on our LARA scale, driven by: [1] the company's large scale, leading position, and diversified business portfolio; [2] strong track record of execution; and [3] modest credit metrics (Net Debt/EBITDA of c. 1x) and sound liquidity. Its three key segments, refining and petrochemicals, digital services, and retail, each of which is a market leader, provide a strong diversification effect. RIL has raised a huge amount of capital in the past two years from the partial stake sales of its key segments at a very high valuation, resulting in a large cash position. The large cash position will help RIL to grow and fund the persistent negative FCF. The key credit constraint is the sovereign rating of India, as RIL is already rated a notch higher than India's sovereign rating. Our Credit Bias on RIL is "Stable" as the company's strong fundamentals and positive momentum in its operations should partially offset the weaker outlook of India's sovereign rating.
