Quiddity HK Connect SOUTHBOUND Flows (Week to 15Sep23) Banks, Real Estate, Telcos, and Big ETF Sales

<li>New stimulus measures appear to be triggering FOMO on real estate stocks, but a foreshortened week, yet again, makes one wonder. There IS money being applied though.</li>
<li>I expect more measures and more buying. I am not sure I would want to be short any Hs with a deep discount to the A the next few months.</li>

China Nonferrous Mining Corp / Event-Driven

<li>A shares were down on the week, not maintaining the month-end bounce after the long weekend. H-shares were mixed. HSCEI was slightly up. </li>
<li>Net SOUTHBOUND buying was +HK23bn. SOUTHBOUND ended its consecutive post-CNY daily net buy streak on 25 March, then started a new one. No net sell days since.</li>
<li>This week saw a LOT of news. State Council Nine Points. CSRC draft regs and legislative work plan. Ratings agency action. Lots of movement. None of it hugely positive.</li>

<li>SOUTHBOUND a net buyer every day since the end of Chinese New Year. Still. NORTHBOUND a huge net seller this week, but net buyers in size (RMB +86bn) over 8wks.</li>
<li>For the first time in a while, AH premia among liquid stocks fell convincingly. Narrow AH premia pairs saw Hs outperform more than wide AH premia Hs (vs As).</li>
</ul>
