The accelerating pace of vaccinations in the city-state will allow the government to soon transition away from its current containment posture that seeks to drive infection rates to zero to a strategy that emphasises safe co-existence with the virus.In turn, reopening tailwinds will reinforce the cyclical upturn currently underway in the Singapore economy, and boost its relative standing as a global hub vis-à-vis Hong Kong.We continue to see a shift in central bank policy only in April next year. While we expect headline inflation to remain relatively high due to elevated external cost pressures, we see core inflation capped by the sizable extent of labour market slack and spare capacity in the economy.
