<p>In my previous article, "The Dissolution of the Parent-Subsidiary Listing and ROIC," I discussed the answers to questions from shareholders regarding the dissolution of the parent-subsidiary listing at the annual shareholders meeting held by Hitachi, Ltd. on June 23 in relation to ROIC, a KPI set by the company in its mid-term management plan. On the same day, June 23, Sumitomo Forestry (1911) announced an equity financing. The company plans to raise up to 37.149 billion yen by issuing 18.4 million new shares, including 2.4 million shares to be sold through over-allotment, which will increase the number of shares outstanding by up to about 10%. We should continue to monitor the company from a medium- to long-term perspective to see to what extent the company has examined. In the future, it is hoped that more companies will consider the shareholder perspective (cost of capital), when conducting equity financing.</p>
