The IMF's latest fiscal breakeven oil price assumptions imply Saudi Arabia is making progress in adjusting to lower international oil prices, but that there is still a long, long way to go.
The Fund's updated fiscal breakeven estimate for 2018 has fallen to USD70 per barrel; down around USD5 from their estimate six months earlier. While that is a long below 2014's USD100+ per barrel breakeven, it is still well above current spot prices even after their recent surge.
