United Power Generation & Distribution Company Limited, an independent power producer, engages in the generation and distribution of electricity in Bangladesh. It operates gas fired 88 mega watt (MW) power plant in Dhaka export processing zone (EPZ), Savar; and gas fired 72 MW power plant in Chittagong EPZ, South Halishahar. The company sells its electricity to export processing industries located in Dhaka EPZ and Chittagong EPZ, as well as to Rural Electrification Board, Bangladesh Power Development Board, Karnaphuli EPZ, and other private sector companies. The company was formerly known as Malancha Holdings Limited and changed its name to United Power Generation & Distribution Company Limited in October 2009. The company was founded in 2007 and is headquartered in Dhaka, Bangladesh.
