*US Greensill Arm Declares BK: On March 25, 2021, Greensill filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection for its US subsidiary, Greensill Capital Inc. (GCI), in the Southern District of New York. GCI sold Greensill products in the US with revenue passing directly through to the Greensill in London; and*Watch Your Risk: Greensill allegedly has USD 5 bn in risk outstanding to GFG Alliance Group (GFG) – a company owned by Sanjeev Gupta, who appears to be at the center of this entire debacle. Credit Suisse, GAM Holdings (GAM.VX), Tokio Marine Holdings (8766.JP), SoftBank Group (9984.JP) amongst many others are likely to be further impacted given the growing uncertainties of Greensill and GFG Alliance.

<div>In this Insight, we look at Asian financial pairs that normally trade in a tight band versus each other and are now trading at levels that are close to an extreme, making it likely that there could be a short term reversal. We also recap our earlier ideas and recommend exiting a few positions, especially where there are gains and the price ratios are at turning points.</div><div>
These are all large cap financials that trade in excess of US$20m a day, so implementing the strategy should be possible using stock borrow or single stock futures.
These ideas are based purely off the stock price history and we recommend investors use a fundamental overlay to determine if the price action is reflective of changes in the sector that benefit one company at the expense of the other, or benefit one company more than the other.

In particular, the allegations of fraud by Bafin and the British Business Bank removing the British government guarantee on COVID-19 lending highlight the increased likelihood of substantially higher losses and other tail risk; and  *Credit Suisse Taking Steps: The hit parade continues. Credit Suisse has stated that the company’s Board is investigating its own ties with Greensill, replaced its asset management CEO, asset management will be segregated from international wealth management, and employee compensation could be subject to clawback.

In addition, Greensill allegedly has USD 5 bn in risk outstanding to  GFG Alliance Group (GFG) – a company owned by Sanjeev Gupta, who appears to be at the center of this debacle; and*Further Tail Risk: Credit Suisse , GAM Holdings (GAM.VX), Tokio Marine Holdings (8766.JP), SoftBank Group (9984.JP) amongst others are likely to see additional weakness given the growing uncertainties with Greemsill and GFG Alliance. In particular, the allegations of fraud by Bafin and the British Business Bank removing UK government guarantee on COVID-19 lending highlight the increased likelihood of substantially higher losses and other tail risk. With the UK and European Central Bank (ECB) asking their institutions for their Greensill and GFG exposures, no doubt the hit parade will continue.
