Credit

In our view, Tata Motors’ Q2/21-22 results were weaker than expected due to the industrywide chip shortage which affected Jaguar Land Rover (JLR), the group's key profit generator. At the same time, Tata Motors India's performance exceeded expectations, with significantly improved volumes, revenue and profitability. Leverage and coverage ratios were little changed. Liquidity is adequate, especially for JLR, which has substantial cash and an undrawn credit facility.
