Periscope Analytics focuses on event-driven trades across Asia Pacific and provides comprehensive, timely and systematic coverage of index changes to major Asia Pacific indices in a structured manner.

The analysis includes forecasted inclusions and exclusions to all major Asian indices that have significant amount of tracking assets, including estimates of passive buy/sell flow on the stocks. The service also provides commentary and impact of market consultations, ground rule changes, and other events (IPOs, spin-offs, M&A) that could lead to index changes and passive flow.

<li>We estimate a one-way turnover of 3.9% at the December rebalance leading to a one-way trade of CNY 2.85bn.</li>
<li>The potential adds have outperformed the potential deletes and the <a href="https://www.smartkarma.com/entities/shanghai-stock-exchange-sse-50-a-share-index" target="_blank" data-smartkarma-citation="entities:31073:1" rel="noopener">SSE50 Index (SSE50 INDEX)</a> by a wide margin over the last few months.</li>

SSE50 Index Rebalance Preview: Sector Rotation To Continue

<li>CSRC and SFC have approved the inclusion of eligible ETFs in Stock Connect and trading of the ETFs under Stock Connect would begin from 4 July.</li>
<li>There are 4 ETFs included in Southbound Stock Connect, while there are 83 ETFs that have been included in Northbound Stock Connect.</li>
<li>Under Stock Connect, only secondary trading is allowed in the ETFs with no creations or redemptions permitted. This will have implications for short-term and long-term repo on the HSI/HSCEI/HSTECH indices.</li>
</ul>

<li>We had forecast nearly all the changes, though the index committee seems to have used discretion in deciding not to add three Distillers to the index, leading to other changes.</li>
<li>There's a large sector skew with Industrials, Information Technology and Materials stocks taking 17 more spots in the index, while Health Care and Financials lose 9 and 5 spots respectively.</li>
