<li>On Thursday we saw news of a Hitachi sale of half its stake in HCM. Friday the stock traded down hard. Friday night saw news that underwhelmed further. </li>
<li>The deal is big, but it is basically a deal to get Hitachi out as parent. There is no Capital Alliance and there is no Strategic Alliance yet. </li>
<li>There simply is not much there, there yet. And the stock is less liquid than it looks, and that won't get better any time soon.</li>

<p>Latest industry sales volume for wheel loader and excavator still point to a challenging period for <a href="https://www.smartkarma.com/entities/lonking-holdings-ltd" target="_blank" data-smartkarma-citation="entities:3944:1" rel="noopener">Lonking Holdings (3339 HK)</a> even the stock trades on inexpensive multiples. We think that the tough industry outlook in the near term will keep its valuation depressed, until there is a better YoY volume comparison after 1Q22. Based on industry figures, wheel loader and excavator sales volume was down by 12.3% and 30.6% YoY in Oct, respectively.</p><p>Domestic market has experienced more significant pressure, and has underperformed overseas market. Even with a sharp rise in special purpose bond issuance by local governments in 3Q21, it will take time to translate into the end-demand. We still consider Lonking a quality company with solid financial position, but it is too early to jump back in. We also see risk of lowering dividend payout ratio on the back of a weaker result in FY21F.</p>

In the US, <a href="https://www.smartkarma.com/entities/facebook-inc-a" target="_blank" data-smartkarma-citation="entities:665:1" rel="noopener">Facebook Inc A (FB US)</a> was sued over monopoly concern and the EU has issued Digital Services Act that aims to create better chances for smaller developers to compete in the Apple and Google ecosystem. In China, the regulator has also been more stringent on the Big Tech, starting with the cancelation of <a href="https://www.smartkarma.com/entities/ant-financial-services-group" target="_blank" data-smartkarma-citation="entities:24240:1" rel="noopener">Ant Group (6688 HK)</a> IPO and now potentially to ask <a href="https://www.smartkarma.com/entities/tencent-holdings-ltd" target="_blank" data-smartkarma-citation="entities:26:1" rel="noopener">Tencent Holdings (700 HK)</a> and <a href="https://www.smartkarma.com/entities/alibaba-group" target="_blank" data-smartkarma-citation="entities:28434:1" rel="noopener">Alibaba Group (9988 HK)</a> to divest some of their investments. </p>
<p>The smaller tech companies in China also have issues that their revenue growth rate has started to slow down considerably, therefore, reducing the potential to reach break-even unless they do a massive cost-cutting exercise. </p>
