<li>Today, <a href="https://www.smartkarma.com/entities/prosus-nv" target="_blank" data-smartkarma-citation="entities:28104:1" rel="noopener">Prosus (PRX NA)</a>  <a href="https://www.prosus.com/news/disposal-of-jdcom-shares-received-from-tencent-holdings-limited/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">announced</a> it had sold the 131,873,028 <a href="https://www.smartkarma.com/entities/jd-com-inc" target="_blank" data-smartkarma-citation="entities:29043:1" rel="noopener">JD.com Inc. (9618 HK)</a> shares it received in the <a href="https://www.smartkarma.com/entities/tencent-holdings-ltd" target="_blank" data-smartkarma-citation="entities:26:1" rel="noopener">Tencent (700 HK)</a> distribution. This is as expected. Proceeds were US$3.67bn.</li>
<li>Also <a href="https://www.prosus.com/news/the-group-announces-the-beginning-of-an-open-ended-share-repurchase-programme-of-prosus-and-naspers-shares/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">announced</a> this morning is "the beginning of an open-ended share repurchase programme of Prosus and <a href="https://www.smartkarma.com/entities/naspers-ltd" target="_blank" data-smartkarma-citation="entities:21085:1" rel="noopener">Naspers (NPN SJ)</a> shares." The details are the key to everything. </li>

Today, Prosus (PRX NA)  announced it had sold the 131,873,028 JD.com Inc. (9618 HK) shares it received in the Tencent (700 HK) distribution. This is as expected. Proceeds were US$3.67bn.
Also announced this morning is "the beginning of an open-ended share repurchase programme of Prosus and Naspers (NPN SJ) shares." The details are the key to everything.

Van Dijk was instrumental in the 2019 listing of Prosus and the creation (and subsequent unwinding) of the highly-criticised Prosus/Naspers cross-holding structure.

<li>Evidence would suggest that the buyback is set to continue at a relatively steady pace for the foreseeable future, which should support the discount to NAV going forward.</li>
<li>The simplification of the shareholding structure, to remove the cross-holding, could sustainably reduce Prosus’ discount to NAV by roughly 10%.</li>
</ul>
