The spread of COVID-19 and, to a lesser degree, the oil price war between Russia and Saudi Arabia overshadowed most other issues in March. These twin shocks are posing unprecedented challenges to the Asian HY market. Against this backdrop, we look at recent developments in China, where the pandemic began and where the economy seems to be returning to normal. We also evaluate the liquidity of each name in our coverage universe, in view of the uncertainties that prevail with respect to the macro and business-specific impact of the current situation. Powerlongâ€™s FY 2019 results were satisfactory with strong revenue growth. Its margins remained competitive among peers, despite a y-o-y decline. The companyâ€™s contracted sales growth was among the fastest for players within our coverage in 2019, supported by more GFA sold and higher ASP. Thisآ sets up a strong base for revenue recognition in 2020. However, the outlook for 2020 is not encouraging, on account of the COVID-19 outbreak. The companyâ€™s contracted sales have been impacted, as evidenced by the 20% y-o-y decline seen in the first two months of the year. Furthermore, revenue recognition could be delayed as construction has been disrupted. Powerlong's recurring income could also be affected this year, given the waivers of rentals, property management fees or other fees collected from tenants, tenantsâ€™آ requests to adjust existing lease contract terms, and the economic slowdown at large, as some income items vary based on tenants' actual business volumes.
