For three weeks ended 9 Dec the combined innovation portfolio was +0.7%, versus DJIA -0.8%, S&amp;P500 -0.8%, Nasdaq -1.3% &amp; MSCI-ACWI-ETF +0.5%.

<li>For the week the large cap portfolio was up 1.2%, the midcap was up 1.4% and the small cap was up 0.9%, all in US$ terms.  </li>

The three companies are Johnson &amp; Johnson (JNJ UN) , Mondelez International (MDLZ US) and Qorvo Inc (QRVO US), which have the highest weighting in each portfolio

For the week the large cap portfolio was up 1.2%, the midcap was up 1.4% and the small cap was up 0.9%, all in US$ terms.  


How the Portfolios Did for the First Week

<li>We built a large cap, a mid cap and a small cap portfolio of twenty stocks each. The constituents are based on how technical publications score and rank their innovations </li>
<li>Only algo driven scores were considered to pick the stocks. Metrics like sales and profit growth, cashflow, leverage, returns, margins, valuations, estimates, news flow, price momentum were NOT considered</li>
<li>The portfolios are market cap weighted. We avoided including the mega caps Apple, Microsoft, Amazon and Google, due to the significant skew their weights will have on the portfolio</li>

We built a large cap, a mid cap and a small cap portfolio of twenty stocks each. The constituents are based on how technical publications score and rank their innovations

Singapore Press Holdings (SPH SP)'s comments and answers about the SPH REIT Chain Offer may be misleading. 

China Mengniu (2319 HK) is in discussions regarding its holdings in Yashili (1230 HK) which may result in a number of "Potential Transactions", and may include a pre-conditional privatisation offer.

WH Group (288 HK) is two businesses - a US pork processor and a Chinese one - and both businesses are suffering lower margins than they'd like.

<li>Cevian, top shareholder, has a 10.24% stake, and bargaining power (it could prevent a delisting). Using DCF, base-case TP is 742p, best case is 834p. Comps-based valuation is 815p.</li>
<li>The market's gone beyond initial doubts, shares closed at 827.6p on 15 March (3.3% gross spread), betting Apollo will succeed (probably raising the offer). The CDS market already believed it.</li>
