Asia HY Trade Recommendations - March 2019 - Lucror Analytics

Olam's FY 2018 results were barely satisfactory. While revenue grew 16% y-o-y, EBITDA declined 7%. The weaker profitability was attributed to a poor performance from the peanut, coffee, rice and dairy businesses. Positively, net debt decreased 8% y-o-y at FYE 2018, thanks to lower capex, as well as inflows from working capital and divestments. That said, leverage is still very high, with Debt/Reported EBITDA at c. 9x, while Debt/Capitalisation stood at 63%. Management stated that the FY 2018 performance was below its expectations, given tougher-than-anticipated market conditions, particularly in H2. Going forward, the company aims to execute its six-year strategic plan, including initiatives to invest USD 3.5 bn in 12 priority business segments, while exiting four non-core businesses.
