<a href="https://www.smartkarma.com/entities/22202" target="_blank" data-smartkarma-citation="entities:22202:1">Vedanta Resources PLC (VED LN)</a> ("Vedanta")'s rating upgrade by Moody's on 20-November reflects India's sovereign rating upgrade 3 days before, in our view, as operating environment is a main driver in Moody's rating model. Vedanta's improving credit metrics, evidenced by improving first half results, announced on 10-November was self-evident, in our opinion, but India's sovereign rating upgrade by Moody’s on 17-November was the reason why the agency abandoned its conservatism on commodity price projection and subsequently upgraded Vedanta's credit ratings.The potential positive rating action by S&amp;P, following Moody's upgrade, and Vedanta's lengthening debt maturity profile are both credit and spread positive, in our view. We expect reduced refinancing risk as well as buoyant zinc prices to improve the company's credit profiles and narrow the spread differential between the VEDLN complex and its Indian peers.  As such, we initiate our coverage of the VEDLN complex with an OVERWEIGHT recommendation (See the Valuation section below).

Custom Products was started 14 years ago at Lehman Brothers by current co-founder Patrick Hansen, CFA. After 3 years at Lehman, Patrick moved the team to Macquarie Securities where Simon Rigney (co-founder) joined. 3 years ago we took Custom Products independent. 

Our core strength can be summed up three words. 1- Customization - we have very little off the shelf products and most work is done on a one on one bespoke basis. 2- Speed - We pride ourselves in our ability to get requests back to the client very quickly. 3- Confidentiality - We do not redistribute. There is no grace period where we wait a week and then mass blast. Any request stops with that client.

We looked at which regions in Asia are most correlated to the S&amp;P500. Over the last 8 years, 42% of Japanese companies have greater than 30% correlation to the S&amp;P500. The overall average correlation to the S&amp;P500 in Japan is 28%. In July 2015, the Indian government set a target of 10 million PNG (piped natural gas) connections to be made within two years. But as of September 2016, the government was 7 million short of its goal with the odds of achieving it in less than a year seeming very low. Increasing PNG and CNG (compressed natural gas) connections are part of the government’s wider plan to more than double the share of natural gas in India’s energy mix to 20% by 2025. To achieve this goal, the government needs to ramp up transmission infrastructure and increase capacity of import infrastructure to cater to the expected surge in natural gas imports, apart from introducing key policies with regards to pricing, taxation and regulation.
