<p>Dingdong Maicai is an on-demand e-commerce company in China which provides users and households with fresh produce, meat and seafood and other daily necessities via its self-operated frontline fulfillment grid. As of 1Q21, DM had 6.9m monthly transacting users, who had placed 69.7m orders during the quarter. Its FY20 gross merchandise value was RMB13bn, representing a 10%+ market share for the on-demand ecommerce fresh groceries and daily necessities market.</p>

The profitability requirement has been raised first time in 26 years, but is much lower than the original proposal.  We believe the original proposal has met with strong opposition from smaller companies and sponsors for listings. <p>There has been an uptick in Softbank news this week as we enter the last stretch of the quarter. On one hand there has been good news as Vision Fund 2’s public portfolio expands, thanks to a successful listing for Zhangmen, two coincident IPO investments and an IPO filing for investee Dingdong Maicai. But the long-expected bankruptcy of Katerra also means another $2bn of Vision Fund value has been wiped off the board so what markets are hearing on Softbank remains decidedly mixed. We have updated our Softbank tables including public portfolio valuations, the holding company discount, and the IPO pipeline.  </p>

<p>Our valuation analysis suggests an implied market cap of US$11.5 billion, representing implied price of $28.67 per share. This would represent an upside of 51% from the high end of the IPO price of $19. Given the strong upside, we would take this IPO deal. We based our valuation based on 9.6x EV/S multiple, which is 150% higher than the average EV/S multiple of its peers in 2022. <strong>We have a positive view of the Kanzhun IPO. </strong></p>
<p>Given the much stronger sales growth of the company combined with impressive improvement in operating losses as a percentage of sales, we believe the company should be valued at much higher valuation multiple than its peers and we believe 9.6x EV/S multiple is appropriate. </p>
<p><strong>Despite being a late comer, Kanzhun has become the largest online recruitment platform in China, as measured by average MAU in 2020.</strong> This is a testament of the company's ability to meet the missing needs of the job seekers and companies that are trying to find new employees. Kanzhun's core product is Boss Zhipin, which is China's leading online recruitment platform app. Boss Zhipin allows employers to interact and connect with job seekers directly through chat rather than simply sending and receiving resumes.</p>
