A number of charts are beginning to show some concerns that draw attention to the annual mantra: ‘Sell in May and Go Away’We look at different measures and patterns on each of the three major US indices – Dow Jones, S&amp;P 500, and Nasdaq 100.In all cases there are important indications that a decent correction down is likely this month (and possibly beyond). Technical Analysis

Gold buy call at 1,680 that formed dual lows did clear the wedge resistance at 1,780. Upside momentum has improved but is now facing resistance at 1,860/72.Touted bull flag did clear 1,780 and did adhere to the expected rally sequence. Looking forward, we see risk of a rally stall on the back of a USD low and reduced risk appetite.A short term top zone is outlined as well as pullback targets and fresh buy support that must hold backswing support to provide fuel for a stronger rise to challenge 1,950.Gold shares (GDX) also show a five wave rise due to complete ahead of a corrective pullback sequence.

After a period of correction and consolidation over the past few week, it is becoming clearer that a base could be forming on US 30 year yield.Key downside pivots at 2.20% were, and remain, important to watch. So far the supports are holding the market. Focus however is now shifting to the key level above at 2.32%, especially as many industrial metals have rallied.

Chemically, gold is a transition metal and a group 11 element. It is one of the least reactive chemical elements, and is solid under standard conditions. The metal therefore occurs often in free elemental (native) form, as nuggets or grains, in rocks, in veins and in alluvial deposits. It occurs in a solid solution series with the native element silver (as electrum) and also naturally alloyed with copper and palladium.
