Insight Overview Overall, we are optimistic about some measures that the government is taking to reach its GDP growth target, although we still project that growth will only reach 6.3-6.5%, below the target of 6.7%.  This growth may be supported by increased credit growth, and further easing measures from the SBV during H2 2017 (supported by the recovery of CPI during Q2 2017).  Some noteworthy events from this month include the launch of a derivatives market on August the 10th, and resolutions…

Vietnam’ s monopolistic airport operator is poised to be listed on Upcom next week. According Ha Noi stock exchange, Airports Corporation of Vietnam (ACV) will be listed on the Upcom exchange by November 21, 2016. The listing reference price in the first trading day is VND25,000 per share, which implies a market cap of USD2.4 billion based on the 2,177,173,236 shares outstanding.

Accordingly, the two major rubber suppliers, Phuoc Hoa Rubber (PHR) and Dong Phu Rubber (DPR), generated such impressive results.

My previous insight outlines opportunities in Vietnam’s logistics industry in the north of Vietnam, and investors should also note the strong trends of growth in the south, primarily in Cat Lai Port.  The development of Lach Nguyen Port in northern Vietnam will also be a substantial boost for capacity in northern Vietnam.  Both the north and the south have been delivering double digit growth, which consequently makes this a significant area for value investing.

This insight provides further insight on my maintained bullish stance for textile companies and industrial park operators, even with TPP ratification being uncertain.  Stocks in these areas are deeply discounted, have displayed a strong benchmark of financial growth in the past five years, and are strategic areas for value investing.  Vietnam's low cost manufacturing comparative advantage is still sustainable with or without the TPP.

This insight provides further insight on my maintained bullish stance for textile companies and industrial park operators, even with TPP ratification being uncertain.  Stocks in these areas are deeply discounted, have displayed a strong benchmark of financial growth in the past five years, and are strategic areas for value investing.  Vietnam's low cost manufacturing comparative advantage is still sustainable with or without the TPP.
