Galliano's Financials Research provides fundamental research in Emerging Markets financials, including FinTech, as well as financials in select Developed Markets.

The investment style applied is generally value oriented, although Growth At Reasonable Price (GARP) strategies can also be used where appropriate. 

Our investment research approach aim is often contrarian, looking to capitalise on overly sceptical or optimistic consensus views. In terms of valuation techniques, the focus is on PBV ratio to ROE, PE multiples and dividend yield, as well as the application of PEG ratios and, where appropriate, Sum of the Parts (SOTP) valuations.

<li>The announced restructuring of Ant Group holding companies will block founder Jack Ma from achieving majority voting on the board following the implementation of the holdcos adjustment</li>
<li>The majority of board directors will be “independent” post the holdco restructuring and they are likely to drive a more social policy focused agenda, as the 2021 sustainability report suggests</li>
<li>We see these developments, and especially the lack of IPO plan, to be negative for non-government aligned Ant Group shareholders, such as the international private equity groups and especially Alibaba</li>

<li>PDD’s Temu will be Shein’s biggest challenger because it is pursuing a different model. Instead of penetrating into the supply chain, Temu offers value-for-money, fair quality products from all categories.</li>
<li>Although Shein’s foundation remains solid (ladies’ apparel + developed countries), growth is slowing down. We reiterate BUY to PDD and BABA and SELL to SE and VIPS after studying Shein.</li>
