In this insight, we discuss noticeable signs of fatigue in the Korean stock market. KOSPI is up a modest 12.2% YTD in 2021. However, there are some significant signs of fatigue that could negatively impact the stock market in the rest of 2021.
The daily trading value on a monthly basis has declined significantly in 2021. The daily trading value of KOSPI was 26.5 trillion won in January, which declined to 13.8 trillion won in July. Typically (but not always), a rising stock market in the midst of a big decline in trading value is not a good sign and suggest major market fatigue.
