<p>Most of the major parties suspended campaigning on Sunday in the wake of events on London Bridge, only to resume them on Monday in terms that would have appalled even the proverbial 19th century fishwife. Whilst this will probably go down as the most inept election campaign of all-time, there can be no denying the importance of the result, either way, for financial markets, nor at this point - given the unprecedented spread in polling results - the uncertainty over the outcome.
