<p>Nonfarm payrolls rose 164,000 in April.  While this was below consensus forecasts, total payroll gains in the prior two months were upwardly revised by 30,000 (thus, April's payroll gain plus the revision put the level of payrolls in line with expectations).</p><p>The unemployment rate dropped to 3.9% in April from 4.1% in March and the broader U6 labor impairment rate fell to 7.8% from 8.0%.  Average hourly earnings increased only 0.1% in April and year-over-year wage growth held at 2.6%.  Total…</p>
