<p>There is a wide array of alternative data on various websites, and this market is expected to double from 2016 to 2020, reaching USD 400m, according to Tabb Group. However, asset managers still face obstacles in using alternative data, even as alternative data providers become prolific.</p><p>In this article, I discuss why alternative data owners should "share" or "make more affordable" data for independent research providers (IRPs), and how IRPs can turn data adoption obstacles into opportunities.
