<ul><li>21 Feb 2022The recent spurt in the raw material prices came as a bane for the Thai rubber producers as they struggle to endure squeezing margins amid flailing demand leaving little room to play around with spot prices.  "It (the margin) is negative already for my side," said a market source adding the drop in the buying expectation has severely impacted them as the cost of production is northbound amid the current tightness in the raw material supply. Spot Standard Thai Rubber (STR) 20 prices hit US$1830/mt on FOB basis mid-last week, closing the week at US$1860/mt FOB Bangkok/Laem Chabang.</li><li>According to market sources, Thai rubber producers break even at US$1815-US$1820/mt on FOB basis.</li><li>However, the marker is slightly higher for the smaller producers who do not have the volume.</li></ul>
