Tesla sold one car in January 2024 in South Korea which has been mainly due to the government's slashing EV subsidies for vehicles with Chinese LFP based batteries.

Tesla's laying off more than 10% of its global workforce is likely to further negatively impact the major rechargeable battery names in Korea including LG Energy Solution (373220 KS), Ecopro BM (247540 KS), Samsung SDI (006400 KS), Posco Future M (003670 KS), and Kum Yang. These five stocks are down 18.4% YTD on average and we expect further downside risk on them in the next several months.
