BACKGROUND
I have 20+yrs experience in Asia doing alternative strategies (i.e. non-delta1 non long-only) in fixed income, equity derivatives, and activist/catalyst/event-driven and long-short equity strategies with most of that time spent managing money. 

4 years in fixed income macro, 8 years running internal hedge fund and 4yrs investment banking at Citi in Japan, 3 years running an Asia multi-strat portfolio at a hedge fund, 4+yrs as an independent special situations analyst.

This morning, the Sydney Morning Herald came out with an <a href="http://www.smh.com.au/business/bulk-of-submissions-against-tpg-telecomiinet-deal-accc-chair-rod-sims-says-20150818-gj1gpd.html" target="_blank">article</a> quoting Rod Sims (chairman of the ACCC) saying the "Bulk of submissions to the ACCC were against the deal." He follows by saying it is natural for complaints to come forth and it is more a matter of the content.It is worth reading the commentary in the article, and re-reading Arzish's Insight <a href="http://www.smartkarma.com/insights/tpg-iinet-an-analysis-of-the-accc-s-statement-of-issues" target="_blank">TPG-iiNet: An Analysis of the ACCC's Statement of Issues</a> from before the TPG vote and before the ACCC raised competition concerns and started a second round of consultations.Mr. Sims said "the ACCC's commissioners will meet Tuesday [today] to discuss and decide the deal's fate." The SMH says "Most industry experts and analysts believe the deal will be allowed with an announcement due by Thursday. This could then be followed by a court date to ratify the deal on Friday."IiNet was originally expected to publish results tomorrow, one day before the ACCC's verdict on the deal is expected on Aug20, but it has decided to delay the results release until after a final decision. More below the fold...
