Production Decline Prompts Malaysian Government Intervention

Malaysian natural rubber production has declined by 3.8% month on month to around 36,410 tons in August from around 37,840 tonnes in July 2022. The year-on-year drop was around 15.2% from 42,942 tons in August 2021. With smallholders accounting for 87.5% of total production, the Malaysian Government has stepped in to reverse the trend and protect the livelihood of farmers.
