Back in September 2019, we wrote an Insight <a href="https://www.smartkarma.com/insights/ping-an-a-h-premium-near-the-highs" target="_blank" rel="noopener" data-smartkarma-citation="insights:32448">Ping An A/H Premium - Near the Highs</a> when the A/H premium was trading at 8% and recommended selling the A-shares and buying the H-shares.Fast forward four months, and the pendulum has swung to the other extreme. The A/H premium (or should we call it a discount?) is now trading at -2.5%. We suggest buying the A-shares and selling the H-shares with a view that the discount will turn into a premium in the near future.In this Insight, we take a look at the historical premium, compare it to large A/H premiums on other large Financials, and identify catalysts that could take the premium higher.
