JapanConsuming was founded by Michael Causton and Roy Larke. 

Michael Causton set up and ran a consumer distribution business in Tokyo for 10 years and developed this into a business responsible for annual imports to Japan of several billion Yen, at the same time building up an inside knowledge of how Japanese distribution works and developing a network of contacts across the industry. Seeing the lack of quality market intelligence on Japanese markets, he co-founded JapanConsuming in 2000. He divides his time between Japan and Europe/US consulting for companies, governments and investors, including providing talks, seminars, and webinars as well as writing reports and books.

Rakuten-Seiyu Netsuper (RSN)  went live last month, offering online food ordering and home delivery from 116 Seiyu stores across 16 prefectures, and distribution centre and 'dark store' fulfilment across most of Tokyo.
RSN is the newest player in online food retailing, and given the size of the two partners involved, has real potential to challenge Amazon Fresh, Lohaco, Seven Net Conbini and the other major new net food operations.
The entry of such major players into the e-commerce food market and the additional marketing spend, will encourage more consumers to consider buying food online, growing the share of e-commerce in food retailing from the very low penetration of just 2% today.
