I have 20+yrs experience in Asia doing alternative strategies (i.e. non-delta1 non long-only) in fixed income, equity derivatives, and activist/catalyst/event-driven and long-short equity strategies with most of that time spent managing money. 

4 years in fixed income macro, 8 years running internal hedge fund and 4yrs investment banking at Citi in Japan, 3 years running an Asia multi-strat portfolio at a hedge fund, 4+yrs as an independent special situations analyst.

They are a construction firm from Kyoto specializing in constructing buildings, roads, tunnels, bridges, rivers, breakwaters, and water and sewage facilities construction works. They also do industrial waste intermediate treatment, and they sell road paving material. All in all, not a terribly exciting business. Fundamental ratios have always been skewed because of their sizeable cash pile, and a hoard of cross-holdings. And while many investors have tried over the years to convince management to address its capital situation, those same many have largely been disappointed. The company is based in Kyoto. Today the company announced a big buyback. Happening tomorrow. This makes things interesting. More below the fold.
