JSW Steel's Q2/18-19 results were good, supported by higher selling prices and an improved mix of value-added and special products. The financial risk profile was relatively stable due to significantly higher earnings, which offset the increased debt in the quarter (driven by higher capex and acquisitions). Liquidity remains weak. We believe JSW will maintain similar operational momentum in H2/18-19, thanks to the favourable steel environment. The key concern in the near term for creditors is the ongoing acquisitions, and how the company will balance the mix of equity and debt capital to fund these. The INR 50 bn rights issue should ease creditors' concern.
